Mission Statement
The mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Indiana Foundation is to support programs to increase awareness of the sacrifices of America's veterans, to promote citizenship education, volunteerism, and youth programs, also to facilitate aid for veterans and their families in need of medical, rehabilitative, educational, and employment services.
Citizenship Education & Youth Programs- The VFW Indiana Foundation will provide funding for The VFW Department of Indiana "Voice of Democracy” and Patriot’s Pen” programs. programs encourage Indiana’s youth to write essays and speeches with patriotic themes, and the best entries receive monetary awards. The Foundation believes that through participation, students can gain a broader awareness and appreciation of veterans’ sacrifices that have allowed them to live in a free country. As part of the Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Programs awards the Foundation will provide the students with a tour of the War Memorial and surrounding monuments.
Assistance for Indiana Veterans- The VFW Indiana Foundation provides emergency or stop gap funds to Indiana Veterans and their families when a verifiable need exists. The Foundation will assist Veterans, Active-Duty Military, and Indiana National Guard personnel.
