Roger Ferguson
State Commander - Air Force

Roger joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the Charles
Denby Post 2953 in in Evansville, Indiana in 1972 upon his
return from Vietnam. In 2018 he transferred to Art
Fellwock Post 1114 also in Evansville, Indiana. He served
as 8th District Commander in 2019-2020 along with Post
1114 Commander for three consecutive years from 2020-
2023. In 2022-2023 he achieved All-State and All-
American status.

Roger has severed as Indiana Veterans Affairs Voluntary
Service Representative for the Evansville VA Health Care
Center from 12/19/2022 thru 06/21/2025. He also served
as State Buddy Poppy Chairman, disciplinary panel
member and is currently serving as State Commander.
As for National he has served on the General Resolutions
Committee and National Aide-de-Camp in 2019-2020.
Roger served in the United States Air Force active duty
from 07/30/1969 to 07/ 27/1973 and Inactive Reserve
until 07/29/1975. He earned his VFW eligibility while
serving at Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base Thailand as
part of Detachment 1 56th Special Operations Wing in
1971 and again with the Pacific Air Force at Tan Son Nhut
Air Base Vietnam in 1972. He was awarded the National
Defense Service Ribbon, Air Force Good Conduct Medal,
Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal along
with other Unit Citations.

Roger is a V.F.W Gold Legacy Life member, Member of
The Military Order of the Cootie, Life Member of the
VFW National Home and the American Legion.
Roger had a 42year career as a Tool-Die and Mold Maker
retiring in 2015. He is now enjoying his life back home in
Evansville Indiana with his wife Sandy and their blended
family of 8 children, 16 grandchildren and 4 great-
grandchildren.
